Aruba street art was very impressive and colourful, especially in the coastal town of San Nicolas and in the centre of Oranjestad. After reading some articles, I learned that the the first Aruba Art Fair in 2016 started the trend for street art paintings around San Nicolas. Local and international artists created the paintings. The art fair takes place each year, so I hope that there will be more paintings over time. However, most buildings are covered on the main street, so they may need to expand further around the town!
In the capital of Oranjestad, the buildings are very colourful. For example, Restaurant Anno 1877 is painted in the style of Piet Mondrian with red, blue and yellow blocks. In addition, one can find lacquered horse sculptures throughout the centre of the city. And I spotted an I Love Aruba sign near the port. In fact, I found a number of Aruba signs around the island. Below are some examples of the street art, mostly from San Nicolas.
