This recipe for Orange salad from Morocco is very sweet and served as a dessert. It captures many of the tastes of Moroccan sweets. First, use the sweetest oranges you can find. Next, you will layer on roasted chopped or ground nuts, cinnamon, and honey orange blossom sauce. Finally, top with coconut cream drizzle. It’s a very easy recipe and you can adjust to your taste. For example, I left the walnuts out and just used ground and flaked almonds.
Ingredients
5 oranges
Juice of 1 orange
1 Tbsp honey
2 Tbsp orange blossom water
50 g roasted walnuts, roughly chopped (optional)
50 g roasted almond flakes (sliced almonds)
2 Tbsp raisins
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
150 g unsweetened coconut cream (or the solid portion of the coconut milk)
Instructions
First, in a large bowl, add the orange juice, honey, and orange blossom water. Mix all together using a whisk until well combined. Then place in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Next, peel the oranges and cut them into medium slices. Arrange the orange slices in a serving plate and pour the reserved cold juice over them. Garnish the orange slices with roasted walnuts and almond flakes, raisins, and finally sprinkle with cinnamon.
Finally, in a small bowl, mix the coconut cream until smooth then drizzle it over the orange salad. Now it’s ready to serve!
